Memory Decay describes the deterioration of the Mental Model when it is not being used (i.e. when another one is in the focus). This is a form of Entropy.
This model predicts that memory that is not continuously reinforcement or retrieved regularly will ultimately fade. This effect is especially bothersome when interruptions temporarily defer task execution and the Mental Model of that task then suffers from decay while it is suspended.
