A Value Stream Map is a visualization of the processes and work that make up a Value Stream. Each Value Stream Map is part of a Value Chain Diagram, that maps the whole of the processes within an organization.
The goal of a Value Stream Map is to provide a visual tool to identify waste (e.g. handover points that produce wait time, increasing the Lead Time).
This tool originated in physical manufacturing.
